Jamie Jones returns to his home town for a breather after knocking out Shaun Murphy to cause the biggest shock so far at the Betfred.com World Championship.

In Sheffield, Ronnie O'Sullivan will be looking to convert a 7-2 lead over Peter Ebdon to a straightforward win and last year's runner-up Judd Trump starts his campaign against Dominic Dale.

In South Wales, Jones is poised for a hero's reception after a triumphant Crucible debut against the 2005 world champion. He said after his 10-8 win: "I've never felt any pressure like it in my life. I've never known an occasion like it... Everyone in the village where I live has been watching on TV. It'll be like a circus at home."

The 24-year-old from Cimla near Neath used to work seven-hour shifts in his local snooker club after putting in six-hour practice stints, but he put that behind him three years ago to dedicate himself to life on the professional tour.

And his career decision was looking a smart move as he marched into the last 16 in Sheffield.

He added: "For my Crucible debut I think I played pretty well. That's definitely not my best though. I can play better than that. I was just going out to enjoy the experience but to come out a winner is fantastic."

Next for Jones is a second-round clash with Andrew Higginson or Stephen Lee, starting on Sunday. Higginson and Lee play to a finish on Tuesday.

O'Sullivan turned the most keenly-anticipated first-round match into a procession as he surged 7-2 ahead of Ebdon, making a five-minute century in the third frame.

Ebdon gave himself a glimmer of hope with a run of 90 in the final frame of the session. He will return needing a comeback on the scale of the one he produced in the 2005 quarter-finals, when he rallied from 8-2 down to defeat O'Sullivan 13-11.

The Belgian 17-year-old Luca Brecel could not claim the victory he wanted on his debut against Stephen Maguire, going down 10-5. Matthew Stevens joined Welsh compatriot Jones in the second round on Monday night, seeing off Marco Fu 10-3.
