ALTRINCHAM ladies' indifferent form continued with a 3-1 home defeat against Warrington Wolverines at Mersey Valley.

Having been knocked out of all the cup competitions by clubs from leagues above them, Alty came face-to-face with a team higher up the North West Regional League Division One South table.

Kate Bryan and Brogan Walsh came close for the Robins while at the other end goalkeeper Lizzie Brereton pulled off two impressive saves.

However, the visitors made the breakthrough on 33 minutes when a speculative, long-range strike from Rachel Dickinson flew into the roof of the goal.

Just before half time, Warrington struck again when Dickinson reacted quickest to net the rebound after Brereton pulled off an impressive stop.

After the break, Altrincham created a good chance but Laura Kelly’s shot was well saved by the visiting goalkeeper. However, Altrincham’s cause was not helped when they conceded a penalty, Helen Dobson making no mistake from the spot.

The Robins kept on creating the chances, Dodds and Bryan drove shots at the Wolverines’ net-minder and Jess Hartopp had an effort fly over the bar.

In the closing stages, Altrincham did get on the scoresheet when a Dodds’ free kick was fumbled and Hartopp was the quickest to react to slot into the net for what proved to be a consolation.
