ALTRINCHAM finally secured their first home win of the league season with a 2-0 triumph against financially-troubled Worcester City.

Despite being with seven injured players, the Robins ended their barren run and got off to a flying start.

The visitors have had to prune their playing staff and it was one of their former players, Micah Evans, who was instrumental in giving Altrincham the lead inside 10 seconds.

It was Evans's low cross from the left which was cleverly steered home by loanee Elliott Newby to give Alty the best possible start to the game.

The Robins doubled their lead in the 13th minute when John Cyrus nodded back a Sam Heathcote free kick for Chris Lynch, captaining in Jake Moult's absence, to score from close range.

Although Worcester came back into the game for a period after half time, having made a double substitution at the break, they scarcely troubled Alty keeper Tim Deasy.

For their part, Altrincham were unable to convert several half-chances but dominated the closing stages to secure their first three points at the J.Davidson Stadium since April.

Matt Doughty's men now face three successive away games which began at Darlington on Wednesday night.

They travel to Telford and Boston United the next two Saturdays.

Their next home game is on March 18 when Stalybridge Celtic are the visitors.
