Warrington 8 Altrincham 2

ALTRINCHAM FC Ladies' endured their heaviest defeat of the North West Regional Division One South League season so far, losing 8-2 to Warrington Wolverines last Sunday.

It was a scoreline that slightly flattered Warrington but it could have been a different story had Jade Hesketh's early shot for Alty not smashed against the post.

Warrington opened the scoring with a speculative long-range strike and quickly doubled their lead after latching on to a ball over the top.

The hosts then netted two goals that looked offside to make it 4-0 before adding a fifth direct from a corner.

Alty did get on the scoresheet just before half time straight from the kick off, Georgia Plant collecting the ball on the left, cutting in and beating a defender before drilling a diagonal shot into the net.

However, a minute later the Wolverines netted another to make it 6-1 at the break.

Alty scored again after the restart when Laura Dodds smashed a half-volley into the roof of the net.

Warrington added a seventh after the Robins failed to clear their defensive lines and netted an eighth with another long-range strike.
