JIM Harvey has stepped up his quest for reinforcements by sounding out prospective transfer targets ahead of Altrincham's FA Cup first-round tie at Lincoln City on Saturday.

The Alty boss admitted 'drastic' changes were needed after a defeat at Worcester riddled with basic errors and revealed he has pinpointed players he believes could revitalise his relegation-threatened team.

"It's just not good enough at the moment," he said.

"The workrate of the team with 10 men in the second half was excellent, but the footballing ability and know-how as a team and unit is not up to requirements.

"That's not just based on the Worcester game – It's what I have seen overall.

"Mistakes are killing us, so we have to eradicate that.

"Whether these boys can do it or it has to be new personnel is the question, and I think it has to be new personnel.

"I have seen too many mistakes too often, and the results will tell you something is amiss here.

"Anyone can make a mistake, but we are making them on a regular basis, and that is adding up to 'hang on, this is not good enough'.

"We are losing matches, and we can't afford to be doing that, so something is going to have to change pretty drastically to get us kicked into gear and getting on with it again.

"These are unforced errors we're talking about, and it's just ridiculous. Some of the stuff that's going on has to be addressed and sorted out.

"There's only one way to get out of the situation we're in, and that's hard work.

"But on top of that we need some better players – that is blatantly obvious to me.

"It's just whether we can get the players in who can improve us.

"I've got specific players in mind, and I'm talking to a few at the moment.

"We are just seeing how we can work it financially and whether we can get them in or not.

"I'm hopeful of doing something this week, but we will see."
