MANAGER Jim Harvey is hoping home advantage can help kick-start Altrincham's season after a dramatic last-gasp FA Cup victory over Gainsborough Trinity at The J.Davidson Stadium led to another favourable draw in the next round.

Alty will host Northern League Morpeth Town in the the third qualifying round a week on Saturday, following Damian Reeves' stoppage-time winner against Gainsborough.

And with Boston United visiting the J.Davidson in between in the league this weekend, Harvey sees it as a golden opportunity for a revival in his side's fortunes.

"We are in the business of winning games, and it was so important we won for the first time, but the way we played also gave me great encouragement," said the Alty manager, whose side scored twice just before half time and went on to win

3-2 after going behind to an early penalty.

"When I took over, it was a case of identifying what the players had to offer, and I am beginning to see they are good going forward. They have the look of a footballing side.

"It could have killed us, conceding a penalty inside two minutes, but we didn't let it.

"We picked the spirit up again, got a lot of possession and played a lot of football to work our way back into the game.

"We pinched it right at the death, and that was only right, because I thought we massively dominated with the football we played and chances we created.

"The football was good, the goals were there and there were some really good individual performances, particularly for a team that hadn't won all season and was low on confidence.

"We are still trying to find ourselves, so that was really encouraging.

"It certainly gives us something to build on.

"I thought we coped well with Gainsborough's direct approach, with John Cyrus and Alan Goodall winning so many headers, and further forward, Sean Miller and James Lawrie were excellent.

"You could see confidence flooding back with all the possession we had, and that was great. I feel the boys are good to go."
