HARROGATE TOWN 2 ALTRINCHAM 2

FOR the third time in their three National League North fixtures this season, Altrincham drew 2-2 – this time at Harrogate Town.

Alty took the lead through James Lawrie when he netted from David Lynch's feed with a shot from left of goal in the 10th minute.

Playing on their new 3G pitch, Harrogate Town equalised in the 24th minute.

Their goal arrived from a corner, which was headed down to Luke Shiels who rifled home from inside the box.

Both teams were then disrupted by first-half injuries.

Firstly, Harrogate's number nine Richardson had to be replaced before the same fate befell Alty's number nine, Craig Hobson.

Danny Hattersley, making his debut, replaced him.

And then, 10 minutes before the interval, the Yorkshiremen lost their other striker, Dominic Knowles, with what seemed to be a hamstring problem.

After Alty had started the game on the front foot, it was Harrogate who got the upper hand and they took a 56th-minute lead.

Their goal again came from a corner. Alty keeper Andrew Dawber came for the ball but was beaten to it by the home captain, Simon Ainge, and his header found the back of the net.

In the closing stages Altrincham pushed forward and got their reward in the final minute of normal time.

A corner by Lawrie was nodded on by centre-back John Cyrus and Damian Reeves nipped in to head home the equaliser. In added time Harrogate's Kerry was sent off for a second yellow card.

With Hobson now joining Tom Hannigan on the injury list, along with Shaun Densmore, Altrincham showed great spirit to secure a point.

On Saturday Alty travel to Gainsborough Trinity and you can book on the supporters' coach by phoning 0161 928 1045 during weekday office hours.
