THREE late goals in 10 minutes saw Altrincham turn around a two-goal deficit to produce a dramatic victory at the Racecourse Ground.

Unchanged from the team that drew at home to Grimsby the previous week, Alty looked doomed at 2-0 down and reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Scott Leather.

But their chances improved when the home side had a man sent off just before the interval and then another red-carded nine minutes into the second half.

The visitors played a patient game with their one-man advantage, before the goal glut began in the 74th minute.

Top scorer and half-time substitute Damian Reeves stretched to volley home a fine cross from the left by Adam Griffin, Alty’s most potent threat on the afternoon.

Five minutes later Reeves scored again when a shot appeared to loop off him into the net.

And James Lawrie sealed the victory when he headed home after Gianluca Havern had got on the end of another fine cross from Griffin.

Wrexham, six places above Alty in 12th spot despite not having won any of their previous seven Conference games, mounted some late pressure but Altrincham held firm to record their third away win of the season, all against full-time ex-League clubs.

Altrincham started the brighter side and conceded the opening goal against the run of play when the Dragons' Elliott Durrell shook off Shaun Densmore's challenge to slot the ball past keeper Stuart Coburn on 14 minutes.

Steven Gillespie was then guilty of a shocking miss, clearing the bar from six yards from an unmarked position.

Things got worse for the visitors nine minutes before the break when centre half Leather was dismissed for a challenge well inside the opposition half.

And after Louis Moult - the Wrexham striker and brother of Altrincham's Jake - netted after former Bury striker Andy Bishop had hit the bar, Alty had a mountain to climb.

The challenge was eased almost instantly when Moult was sent off for a challenge on midfielder Simon Richman, and the half-time introduction of Reeves proved pivotal.

Bishop was the third player to see red when he received a second yellow card for bringing down Moult.

Altrincham are at home to Kidderminster Harriers at the J. Davidson Stadium, Moss Lane, on Saturday.
