ALTRINCHAM manager Lee Sinnott may have made four changes for this game but the outcome was unaltered as his team recorded their third successive win of the new season against their Cheshire rivals on Saturday.

Leather, Richman, Walshaw and Clee came in for Doughty, Rodgers, Lawrie and Smikle as the management rotated a squad head of four games in nine days at the start of the season.

An impressive crowd of nearly 3,000 witnessed a comfortable victory against County, who have yet to win a game in the Skrill (Conference) North.

This was the first ever league clash between the two Cheshire neighbours, though County's reserves were regular visitors to Moss Lane during their Cheshire County League days.

In Stuart Coburn's 600th start for Altrincham, the experienced keeper had little to bother him apart from half a dozen long range shots but sentiment won out as he was awarded the man of the match champagne.

Centre-back Gianluca Havern would probably have won the award in different circumstances as he marshalled an Alty backline to it first clean sheet of the season.

Further forward, James Walshaw could have had a first-half hat-trick but miskicked and then failed ot make contact with a cross before he finally found the target in the 42nd minute.

County had looked fragile at the back and in the second half they were soon undone again when Shaun Densmore's accurate cross was headed into the net, at the back post, by Damian Reeves, with just five minutes of the half elapsed.

And when Walshaw put Reeves clear up the middle 20 minutes later, there was a predictable outcome as Reeves made it three goals in three games for last season's 41-goal finisher.

That strike signalled the start of an exodus from the sizeable Stockport support, which has seen its team fall four divisions in fewer than 15 years.

The win lifted Altrincham to second place, just behind promoted Hednesford Town on goal difference.

The Robins travel to Vauxhall Motors on Monday before Histon become the next visitors to the J. Davidson Stadium on August 31.
