Tony O'Connor breaks clear for AK
AK 1st team’s good run came to an end on Saturday in a close fought game at home to Widnes.
AK made the early running with Tristan Laga scoring from close range for a 5 – 0 lead.
However a missed tackle led to the Widnes winger scoring to equalise. AK though finished the half strongly and James Singleton scored a try converted by James Nettleton to give AK a 12 – 5 half time lead.
Early in the second half another missed tackle led to Widnes equalising. AK had chances to win the game but were unable to make the most of their opportunities and Widnes kicked two late penalties to win the game.
On Sunday the AK Junior Colts got back to winning ways with a 16 – 10 win over Wirral. Tries were scored by Sam Neil and Nicky Cliffe who also kicked two penalties.
The AK Under 16s beat Bury 34 – 15 with tries from Alex Fry (2), Aiden McGoff, Sam Nero and Lucas Dowling Kennedy (2) who also kicked two conversions.
AK Under 13s beat Bowdon 38 – 0 with tries from Conor Docherty (2), Christos Nikou (2), Tom Watson and George Wadsworth, with Callum Ramsey kicking four conversions.
