Jets come a cropper

AN understrength Sale Jets team fell to a heavy 20-61 defeat at the hands of an experienced Leicester Tigers outfit at Heywood on Monday night.

The young home side didn’t have the ammunition to cope with the traditional Midland force and were 49-3 down after 70 minutes’ play.

Charlie Amesbury scored the first of three tries in the final ten minutes, the others coming from Ross Harrison and Charlie Ingall.

For the Tigers, Alex Lewington ran in a hat trick in his team’s total of ten tries.

Jets: Ingall; Royle, Uys, James, Amesbury; Shepherd, Cliff; Croall, Cruse (Flynn 60), Harrison, Gerrard (Cross 70), Austin (Lewis 73), Bordill, Doyle (Neild 40), Easter. Replacements not used: De la Harpe, Bedlow, Jeffers.
