URMSTON Hockey Club's men's first team took on a very professional Ben Rhydding side at Wellacre High School at the weekend.
Urmston proved to be a good match for Rhydding, however they were unfortunate to come away with a 4-2 loss. Scorers were man of the match Charlie Weems and Andy Power.
The mens 2s travelled to league leaders Keswick with man of the match Matt Podmore in commanding form. Unfortunately it wasn't enough with the strong Cumbrian side winning 7-0.
The mens 3s hosted Golborne and claimed their first win of the season, beating them 3-2. Urmston were on top the majority of the game. Scorers were Ashley Wasilewski, Rob Skelly and man of the match Tom Frame.
The ladies 1st team played Bolton 2s at home. Within the first five minutes, Urmston had conceded a goal and were trailing 1-0. Urmston completed the victory with an impressive 9-1. Goals came from Becky Crossley (3), Stacey Traynor (3), Kate Entwistle, Louise Haslem and Lois Oliver.
The ladies 2s won 3-1 away at the University of Manchester. Scorers were Gemma Booth (2) and Moira Maher.
The ladies 3s were defeated by Didsbury Grays 4-0 but they did put in a passionate performance.
