Timperley Hockey Club

TIMPERLEY Men's first team travelled to newly promoted Alderley Edge in high spirits after a solid point against Deeside a week earlier.

Missing the influential King and Phillips, Timperley dominated the early stages with the Alderley defence struggling to get the ball out due to the intensity of the Timperley press.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when the ball was fired into the D and was deftly dispatched by Higson for his 1st league goal of the season for the boys in blue.

Timperley's lead was increased before half time after good work from new boy Wez Wareham found Lee Sinclair all alone from yards out with a simple tap in.

Alderley came out all guns blazing for the second half but they found Timperley's defence and keeper in great form and failed to create anything meaningful. This was supported by some excellent work rate from Dan Vernon and John Chapman in the midfield.

With 10 minutes left the game was not over and when Alderley Striker found himself one on one with Timperley keeper Chris Heaton he made a magnificent save with his head to keep the 2-0 advantage.

With minutes left, Timperley were awarded a short corner after a great ball from Andy Beel into space on the right hand side and their lead increased to 3-0 after another Sinclair tap in from a well worked corner from Man of the match Matt Horan Timperley move onto Bowdon next week hoping to keep the strong start to the season going.
