LANCASHIRE and England legend Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is urging cricket fans to act fast as Old Trafford announces its open sale date for Ashes tickets.

The Third Investec Ashes Test match between England and Australia takes place at Old Trafford on August 1 to 5 next year and tickets have already sold very well to priority ticket applicants.

The remaining tickets go on open sale on October 10 from 10:00am, including tickets for next September’s NatWest ODI versus Australia.

Freddie said: 'Who could forget the last Ashes held at Old Trafford in 2005? It had everything...drama, excitement, wickets, runs. 'Over 30,000 fans were locked out on that final day - that's something I will never forget! 'It's been a long time coming, but I for one cannot wait for the Ashes to come back to Old Trafford. I'm gutted not to be involved on the field but I'll certainly be there cheering the lads on!

'As we all know, the North West is a hotbed for sport and cricket is certainly no different.

'This time cricket fans will be able to watch all the excitement and drama in a brand new, redeveloped Old Trafford, which will be one of the best stadiums in the world! 'I'm sure tickets will sell like hot cakes, so I urge everyone not to miss out like those unlucky 30,000 fans on the final day in 2005.'

Only a limited amount of tickets remain for the first three days and supporters are urged to act promptly in order to avoid disappointment as the Club expects to sell out shortly after going on open sale.
