A TIMPERLEY football league has scooped a national award.
Timperley and District Junior Football League, will attend the FA Community Awards at Wembley on October 12 to receive the prestigious Charter Standard League of the Year Award in the annual grassroots football awards ceremony.
Timperley and District Junior Football League currently provide regular football to 536 teams from the area. They also have strong links with the Altrincham Youth League, where players move on to when they finish in the junior league.
The league has now begun to run small sided youth games in conjunction with the current youth review and also runs a high number of coaching qualifications to increase training opportunities for volunteers within the league. The coaching sessions cover everything from emergency first aid to safeguarding to FA Level One and Youth Module level one.
They will be collecting the award in front of football legends including Sir Geoff Hurst and Pat Jennings, as well as getting the chance to watch England’s World Cup qualifying match versus San Marino at Wembley.
Founded in 2010, The FA Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s, recognise and celebrate those coaches, volunteers, clubs and leagues, across England who dedicate their time to grassroots football in their community.
McDonald’s director of football, Sir Geoff Hurst, part of the judging panel, said: “Timperley and District Junior Football League embodies the spirit of hard work and fantastic grassroots football. The league offers a very high standard of football for a vast number of teams as well as encouraging managers to complete coaching modules, which is highly commendable. I am looking forward to meeting them on Friday to express my congratulations on their award.”
