Altrincham Kersal RFC match results
12:59pm Monday 17th September 2012 in Sport
ALTRINCHAM Kersal 1st team travelled to unbeaten Liverpool St Helens, with a team containing three sets of brothers, Sam, Tom and Chris Moncur, Tony and Pete O’Connor, James and John Singleton.
AK opened the scoring with a Rob Holloway penalty, followed shortly afterwards by a James Singleton try for an 8 – 0 lead. However LSH came back strongly to score two tries and lead 14 – 8. The rest of the half though belonged to AK as firstly Louis Taylor showed great strength to crash through three tackles to score and then from a Tom Moncur break, brother Sam scored under the posts, which was converted for 20 – 14 half time lead.
LSH with their much larger pack dominated most of the second half but great AK defence restricted them to just three penalties and a 23 – 20 lead. AK though came back strongly in the last few minutes and a Rob Holloway penalty gave AK a well deserved draw.
AK 2nd team led Stockport 14 – 12 at half time but injuries reduced them to just 12 players in the second half as Stockport ran out comfortable winners.
On Sunday AK Colts beat Waterloo 25 – 10 to remain second in the A league.
