Rugby - Anselmians v Sale FC

Anselmians 14 Sale F.C. 63 SALE turned on the style last Saturday to secure their first league win at Anselmians, and although it is early days, by the end of the match they were leaders of League North 1 West.

On a hot afternoon the visitors’ played some magnificent rugby taking the game to the hosts from the kick off. Sale took the lead on 15 minutes with swift handling down the backs for Andy Rowley to score the opening try. In the space of a further 14 minutes Sale had extended their lead to 28-0 with tries from Ronan O’Brien, Ciaran Connolly, and Rowley with the latter adding all four conversions.

Anselmians came back with a converted try, before Connolly added Sale’s fifth try on the stroke of half time and Rowley again added the conversion for a 35-7 lead at the break. Two minutes into the second half Connolly scored a third try and with Sale playing a high tempo game Josh Allan and Matt Simpson both touched down, and with Rowley faultless with his conversions Sale led 56-7. Danny Waddy added Sale’s final try on 70 minutes and once again Rowley was successful with the kick. The hosts finally added to their score with a converted try in the last minute.
