Matt wins McCain Challenge
ALTRINCHAM Athletic Club's Matt Barnes has won the prestigious UK Athletics McCain Challenge at 5000 metres following a series of impressive summer performances on the track.
The series ran across the whole 2012 summer season and athletes were able to count their four best performances from a list of qualifying races include the national championships and the British Athletics League.
Matt put in some excellent performances including times of 14.03 and 14.06 at Grand Prix events in Solihull and Watford respectively.
He will now look ahead with his Altrincham team mates to the autumn road racing season with medals at the Northern and National relays top of the agenda.
