Waterloo 27 Sale F.C. 31

SALE recorded a late win at Waterloo in their second practice match of the new season.

The home side opened strongly with a try, conversion, and penalty for a 10-0 lead before Matt Simpson carved open the Waterloo defence to touch down for Sale on 28 minutes.

The hosts extended their lead with a breakaway try two minutes later before changes of personnel by both sides brought Sale back into the match.

Sale produced three tries in a nine minute spell with Jonathan Keep touching down after the Waterloo pack were driven over their own line. Fluent handling put Mike Swetman and Josh Allan in for tries, and two conversions saw Sale lead 24-15, but in the last 20 minutes Waterloo made it 24-27 with two further tries and a conversion.

Only six minutes remained when an excellent Sale move ended with Ian Moriarty barging over and Swetman added the extras to secure the win.
