Gruelling ordeal for MV's under 14s

TRAFFORD MV's Under 14s players took part in a sponsored event this weekend to raise funds for a new set of shirts for their team.

The players were up bright and early for a 5km run held at the club on Finny Bank Road in Sale which took them outside the run of the mill training they normally encounter.

The run also involved the players transporting such things as tree trunks, tractor tyres, tackle bags and tug of war ropes around the course while also encountering obstacles on the way.

The lads put in a huge amount of effort which will no doubt show itself during the season as the lads put on the Black and White kit of Trafford MV when they turn out to represent the club.

Team coaches Pete Hunter and Ollie Stuart congratulated the players on their efforts and said they were proud of the committment shown by the boys.

Ollie said: ''I remember coming down to MV as a kid myself with no focus in life and starting to play cricket and rugby and now 20 years later I'm still here as a coach bringing young lads through a local sports club and giving them an incentive in life - it's great.''

Trafford MV is looking to parents, teachers and businesses to get behind sports clubs in the area to encourage youngsters to take part in sport and also to support sports clubs by spectating, taking an interest and giving financial support when possible.

Trafford MV provides sporting opportunities for youngsters in both cricket and rugby union and is constantly working in a self funding capacility to inprove its playing and training facilities for the benefit of its members and the local community.
