Ashton-on-Mersey CC – 1st XI 119 - 4

ASHTON on Mersey produced another excellent all round performance to record a comfortable win over Lindow at ‘The Beets’.

The visitors won the toss and batted first, reaching 50-1 before the introduction of the Ashton on Mersey change bowlers turned the game.

The excellent Mo Asad discomforted all the Lindow batting lineup, finishing with figures of 5-22 as the visitors slumped to 116 all out.

Ashton on Mersey began the run chase positively with Steve Hart and Anthony Roscow posting a rapid 35 before Hart fell for 14.

With the superb Roscow batting at his fluent best, and the in-form Lee Brooks looking as solid as ever, the home team moved to a six wicket victory with 15 overs to spare. (Roscow 58 not out) The 25 point win keeps Ashton in the title fight with a visit from Prestbury to look forward to next week.

Ashton on Mersey’s 2nd XI had the better of a draw at Cholmondley. The visitors posted 141 all out (Lee Griffiths 57) and reduced the home side to 108-7 at the close (Josh Knowles 2-10).
