Bowdon ease to victory thanks to Parker century

BOWDON continued their good form with an emphatic 68 run victory, Heaton Mersey won the toss and decided to bowl on a day that was always going to be interrupted by the weather.

Bowdon made a steady but cautious start, with Stephen Ball and Trevor Gane scoring 21 each. A number of quick wickets then fell with Bowdon struggling on 54-3.

Aussie Glen Parker then came to the wicket and played an excellent innings, reaching his unbeaten century off the last over of the innings, with 11 fours and a six.

Bowdon ended on 218-5 off their 50 overs, a score which Heaton Mersey must have fancied reaching.

All the home sides top order batsmen managed to score double figures, with none of them managing to build a substantial innings.

They continued to struggle eventually being all out for 140 off 41 overs.

The wickets were shared among Andrew Wilks (2-28), Gareth Edwards (4-60) and Mark Leathley who finished with the impressive figures of 11 – 14 – 3 wickets.
