CHILDREN across Trafford are being encouraged to get involved with sport this summer as the latest wave of Chewits sports courses come to the borough.

The courses, which run daily after school and during school holidays, provide a safe environment for children age five to 11 where they can have fun, make friends, gain confidence and get excited about sport.

With a wide range of activities including football, rugby, gymnastics and cheerleading, the clubs aim to provide a safe environment for children where they can make friends, gain confidence and enjoy exercise as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Former Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe, Ambassador for Premier Sports, hosts of the sports courses, said it’s important for children to get involved in sport and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

He said: “The more kids are involved in sport the better. It’s all about the facilities that are there for children. Everybody complains that kids are on the street and in my opinion it’s down to boredom and not having the facilities there for them.

“I think in Trafford, if the facilities are there, I’m sure more kids would get involved in sport.”

Chewits Sports Courses take place at various schools across Trafford. For information about course locations visit premiersport.org
