Trafford MV cricket
3:14pm Monday 11th June 2012 in Sport
WITH torrential rain decimating the summer sporting calendar Trafford MV were lucky, in some ways, to get their game in Chester played.
Cheshire County Officers were able to host MV in the Mellor Braggins Cheshire League.
MV opened and looked to be going well at 117-3 when the loss of inspirational wicketkeeper/batsman Andy Searle brought on a middle order collapse.
MV were all out at less than 150 - an easily reachable target.
CCO opened their innings strongly and a crucial dropped catch by veteran all rounder Steve Warner allowed the Chester side's top scorer to stay at the crease - knocking up a good 72. Consistent bowling from promoted Colin Rothwell was not enough to contain CCO who got the required runs with five wickets to spare.
MV 1st XI will now hope a good net session on Tuesday will have focused them for their home match against Aston - stumps 1.30pm.
The 2nd XI travel to Ladybridge, Cheadle Hulme. The Ladies 1st XI played Trinity in a Cheshire Regional T20 match.
Trafford MV Cricket are looking for the next generation of cricketers to take the field and are looking for new players to get involved at club level - teachers and parents are invited to bring prospective players to Trafford MV and make the step from school to club cricket.
