SYLVIA Lowther completed a memorable year as lady captain of Sale Golf Club by handing over a cheque for over £1,300 to the chosen charity of the Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.

There to receive the cheque was Professor Kevin Webb the clinical director of the unit who outlined some of the work done at the clinic to the gathered lady members and he was also able to thank them for their generosity in contributing to such a worthy cause.

Sylvia said: “It was a great effort by club members and friends for a cause dear to my heart with my granddaughter benefiting from the work done at the unit.

“Among the events which helped to raise money were a Ladies Golf Day, a sweet basket on the bar, golf balls, donations and raffles and I was delighted with the efforts made throughout my year in office.”
