DAVYHULME Park's Derek Page has enjoyed an eventful and successful start to 2012 at his beloved club.
Derek was delighted to win the Team Player of the Year Trophy for 2011 at the club’s presentation evening and also to find out that he was to be the club captain in its 101st year.
Derek, who enjoyed great sporting success in cricket as a top pace bowler with several years at Timperley CC, joined Park 13 years ago and his talent quickly saw his handicap drop to single figures and he now plays off five with his best handicap being four.
His wife Jenny is also a fine player with the Park ladies and one of their biggest joint successes was to win the prestigious GS Lancs Trophy in the prestigious Balfour and Houldsworth competition series.
Derek also played a key role in the Park team win in the Manchester Alliance City Glass Foursomes in 2011.
The keen Manchester United fan’s favourite course other than Davyhulme is the Sultan Championship Course in Turkey and his hobbies other than golf are keep fit and yoga.
Derek will be supporting Parkinson’s Disease as his chosen charity in his year in office.
Joining Derek in office are Noel Kelly as president, Lynn Niland as lady captain and Josh Garnett as junior captain.
