A NEW ice skating club has been launched at Altrincham Silver Blades Ice Rink.

‘Altrincham Silver Blades Figure and Dance Club’ has been set up by volunteer parents and skaters for those who wish to improve their skills on the ice.

This is the first time a club has been set up since the closure of the old Altrincham Ice Rink in 2003.

The committee of the club will organise events to promote achievement and fun for skaters who have reached Skate UK Level 8.

Club Secretary Debbie Mackender said: “The launch night was a great success and we hope to get more members as we go on, with club nights, workshops and competitions.”

The group is similar to clubs at ice rinks in Bradford and Blackburn which have proved to be popular and highly successful.
