First victory for Brooklands

BROOKLANDS Cricket Club resoundingly beat Heaton Mersey by over 100 runs to give them their first win of the season.
Christian Potter’s 49 helped Brooklands to a healthy total of 229, with John Birchall (44) and Naveed Din (30) also contributing solid innings.
Bowlers AJ Hary and Caleb Jones started brightly and Mersey were soon just 22-4.
The home side’s batting collapsed spectacularly, and they were all out for 98 giving Brooklands a clear 131 run victory after Naveed Din took the final wicket.
Brooklands also won in the cup without hitting a ball after their opponents Bredbury St Mark’s couldn’t raise a team and forfeited the game.
