Sharks - Sale Sharks Open Day attracts bumper crowds

SALE Sharks were staggered by the high level of interest shown by supporters at their first open day in their new Salford City Stadium home last Sunday.

Just under 2,000 fans viewed the facilities at the Barton venue, and fixed their vantage point for the coming season. Many bought Season Tickets for two or three years, with several opting to stand on the terraces behind the posts.

Sharks CEO Steve Diamond said: “We were absolutely blown away by the response of the supporters. We had a few teething problems at first but the Ticket Office staff put in long hours on Sunday, and returned the fan’s calls.”

It is understood that the club accrued £500,000 during the day, and business continued to be brisk on Monday, with extra staff drafted in to cope with the demand for what seems to be a ‘Must have’ ticket for the 2012-13 season at the North West’s Premier Rugby club.

Supporter Eileen Gould told the club, “The new stadium is fantastic. The booking staff who did an incredible job under extreme circumstances. They were helpful and patient and it was worth the long wait. I got the tickets next to the tunnel which I wanted and our fellow supporters near us have also been successful. I can't wait for the first game!”

The club held their second Open Session at teatime yesterday (Wednesday) and have more planned – while stocks last.
