AFC Quarry continued in their pursuit of the Division One title by thrashing Kartel Sports 0-6 on Wednesday.

League leaders Atlantic FC claimed a 3-1 midweek win against Sale United but suffered a damaging 5-1 defeat away at Sale Rovers at the weekend.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Egerton FC recorded back-to-back losses against Knutsford FC (2-0) and Old Alts (2-1) while Sale Town’s faint title hopes were all but ended by a 1-1 draw with Sale Amateurs and a 2-1 defeat at Sale United.

In the one other game played in Division One last week, Sale Rovers preceded their comfortable victory against Atlantic by coming out 0-1 winners away at Old Alts.

Meanwhile in Division Two, Flixton Juniors extended their lead at the top of the table to four points thanks to a 0-4 win at APFC on Monday and a 2-5 victory at Sale Town Reserves at the weekend. Second-placed Swinton FC kept their slim title chances alive by winning 0-2 at Broadheath Central JFC ‘B’ while third-placed Broadheath Central FC remain on course for the title after hammering Unicorn Athletic 0-5 on their travels.

Broadheath are currently six points off the pace having played three games less than the top two.

Elsewhere in the second tier, Broadheath Central JFC ‘B’ and Irlam FC beat Styal FC (5-1) and Sale Town Reserves (2-0) respectively on Monday. Northenden Victoria and Unicorn Athletic beat APFC (2-5) and Baroni FC (5-2) respectively at the weekend.

In the League Cup, Broadheath Central FC overcame the odds to secure a dramatic 2-1 win against AFC Quarry and book their place in the final. The Division Two outfit will now come up against Wilmslow Sports who prevailed 6-2 winners against Irlam FC after-extra-time. The final will be played at Altrincham FC on Tuesday 8th May (7:30 KO).
