Junaid Khan plans return to LCCC

JUNAID KHAN will return to LV= County Champions Lancashire in June, subject to approval from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The Pakistan international proved to be a sensation in Friends Life t20 cricket for the Red Rose when he arrived at Old Trafford last summer.

Taking 12 wickets in the competition – including a career best of 3/12 against Derbyshire Falcons - the left arm seamer proved to be very effective especially towards the end of an innings.

He helped Lightning to get to Finals Day at Edgbaston but was unavailable to play on the day after earning a call-up to the Pakistan national squad.

The 22 year old will be available in all competitions and will be free to play for the Club until the end of the season if required.

Director of Cricket Mike Watkinson said: “Junaid gave some outstanding performances for us in T20 cricket last season particularly with his bowling at the end of an innings. He is also keen to spend additional time around the squad so that he can continue to develop his all round game.”

Head Coach Peter Moores added: “Junaid showed last season his ability to win a game from almost any situation. His strength at bowling in power plays and at the end of the innings in One Day cricket adds another dimension to the squad and it will be great to have him back."

Junaid will join South African batsman Ashwell Prince as the County’s overseas player for 2012.
