ON Saturday AK first team travelled to Sandal where some controversial refereeing decisions gave the home side a 27 – 3 lead.
AK came back strongly in the second half scoring tries through Jon Bishop and JP Singleton, and had two other tries disallowed before finally going down 42 – 15.
The AK second team fared much better though, winning 55 – 8 at Lymm to maintain second place in their league.
On Sunday the AK women’s team beat Team Northumbria 57 - 5. Try scorers were Tasha Fitt with 5, Katy McWhirter with 2, Lindsay Harvey and Pam Read, who also kicked five conversions.
In the juniors three teams reached Cheshire finals. The Junior Colts beat Liverpool Collegiate 18 – 10 with tries from John Coulson and Jonathan Dodd. Calum Robinson converted one and kicked a penalty, with Tom O’Rourke adding a drop goal. The Under 16s beat Ellesmere Port 55 – 6 with tries from Josh Maguire (3), Nikki Cliffe (2), Alasdair Sloane, Will Carson, Oli Boudin, Matt Samuels and Charles Leach with Nikki Cliffe adding five conversions. The Under 14s beat Chester 33 – 0 with tries from Eddie Brady (2), Sam Yarrow, Alistair MacDonald and Aidan McGoff, with Lucas Dowling-Kennedy adding four conversions.
