AK entertained West Hartlepool for the first time in National League 3 North in an entertaining and see saw game.
AK dominated the early play, opening the scoring through a good team try finished off by Tony O’Connor.
West’s then took the lead through a converted try but AK continued to play expansive rugby to score two more great team tries finished off by Tony O’Connor and Callum Yates, with Chris Stewart converting both of them.
West’s had the final say of the half, though, with another try to reduce AK’s lead to 19 – 12.
Against the run of play West’s came back in the second half with two further tries to take the lead. However two penalties from Chris Stewart put AK back in front at 25 – 24 before James Conville broke away to score AK’s fourth try.
The conversion was missed but Chris Stewart added a further penalty to give a well deserved win to AK of 35 – 24.
It was a good day all round at AK with the second team coming from behind to beat Liverpool St Helens 20 – 15 and the 3rd team having a great 17 – 12 win over Winnington Park second team.
