LEE SINNOTT tore into his Altrincham players and warned that futures were on the line after a disappointing home draw with Corby Town on Tuesday night.

Alty came crashing down from the heights of Saturday’s 4-2 win at FC Halifax and were fortunate to escape with a point after being outfought and outplayed by their promotion rivals.

Sinnott pulled no punches, as he fumed: “I’m livid, which is the strongest language I have used after a game since I took over. There were two plastic chairs behind me, near the dug-out, and there were a couple of times where I felt like putting my foot right through them.

‘I have been very supportive of my players, but this has to stop right now. You can’t go through a season putting in a great performance on a Saturday, then a totally inept one three days later.

“Corby’s goal could have been prevented, but you could see It coming. They deserved to win, without a shadow of a doubt, because we never got out of first gear. There was no drive, no momentum, and that was quite baffling. It was also completely unacceptable.

“It’s one thing getting plaudits after sticking four past Halifax, or scoring six at Colwyn Bay, but that ain’t going to get you promoted if you are so far below par in your next game.

“The bottom line is consistency, and each individual has to ask himself why he has performed so well in one game and so poorly in the next. Stuart Coburn has been our best player in both games by a country mile, so that tells you the Achilles heel is still there.

“I’m not going to stand by for ever and wait for things to change. No-one is safe. I’m not safe as manager, because I’m here to deliver results, and it is the same for the players. They are judged by what they do on the pitch - and up one week, down the next is not good enough.”

Midfielder Steve Connors is in talks with Alty and will train with them this week.
