CARRINGTON RUFC held a family fun day on Saturday which saw hundreds in attendance.

The day included a tag rugby competition between local primary schools, and a match between pupils from Wellacre Technology College, Flixton, and their twin school from South Africa, Ferrum High, currently on a visit.

The game, played by mixed 14 to 16 year-olds, eventually went to the visitors 11-9.

Commenting, the club’s recruitment co-ordinator, Duncan Wise, told SUM: “It was a fantastic game. The teams were mixed up so it wasn’t quite like England v South Africa.

“There was some great ball and there were smiles all round, and not just the players either.”
