ALTRINCHAM had to settle for a point despite playing impressively in Saturday's 4-4 draw at Spennymoor Town in National League North.

The Moors started brightly and took a merited lead in the 11th minute when Mark Anderson scored with a low shot, after Josh Hancock had lost possession.

But Alty soon settled and after a good spell they deservedly equalised after 21 minutes when Andy White fired home from the edge of the box from Jordan Hulme's feed.

After more flowing football from Alty, a John Johnston free kick was firmly headed home by centre-back James Jones soon after the half-hour mark.

But the Moors scored an equaliser against the run of play before the interval.

Robert Ramshaw advanced on the right and fed Adam Boyes, who cleverly lobbed the exposed Tony Thompson.

The excitement continued as Alty scored early in the second half.

Following a short corner, a low cross from the right was converted by the incoming Hancock to make it 3-2 to the visitors.

Again the Moors responded as Shane Henry netted when Alty failed to deal with a free kick, which was headed back from the far post for the substitute to score.

Remarkably Alty went ahead for a fourth time 13 minutes from time when a Hulme shot was blocked but Hancock netted.

However, another defensive lapse allowed the Moors to make it 4-4 when Glen Taylor took advantage of poor defending from a free kick.

ALTRINCHAM: Thompson, White, Hampson, Jones, Goulding, Moult, Johnston, Richman, Hulme, Williams, Hancock. Subs: Harrop, Daniels, Peers, Harrison, Wynne.
