TIMPERLEY talisman Jack White took a hat-trick in a phenomenal bowling display that saw his side beat Cheadle by 30 runs at Stockport Road in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division.

White returned figures of 7-32 off 16 overs to help skittle out the visitors for 139 after Timperley had batted first and made 169.

Timperley skipper Nathan Brown won the toss and elected to bat first after dominant batting displays of late.

But the hosts did not have it their own way and under cloudy skies Cheadle made early inroads to leave Timperley reeling at 81-5, Dan Brown removing all of the top four, on his way to figures of 4-37.

Abhishek Kulkarni (26), Brooke Guest (27) and overseas player Nathan Olivier (32) all made promising starts but fell before they could push on, on a tricky wicket.

Ed Galley (20) helped rebuild, before man-of-the-moment White showed his ability with the bat to add 38 from 35 balls, including three sixes and two fours.

Timperley made a strong start when opening bowler Chris Page claimed Ryan O’Brien for a duck, but from then on Cheadle batted sensibly to put themselves in the ascendancy at 108-2 with 18 overs to reach their target.

Furqan Shafiq opened up an end by removing Cheadle keeper Elliot Bullock (15), before White took centre stage, lining up the middle and lower order and blowing them away – ex-Timperley batsmen Richard Nicholson was the unfortunate hat-trick victim.

Timperley maintained their unbeaten league run further strengthened their credentials as serious title contenders this campaign.

They take a 22-point advantage into next weekend's huge top-of-the-table clash at second-placed Nantwich.
