MANCHESTER Storm have signed Adam Barnes for the upcoming season.

The 19-year-old British forward is returning to his home town after spending last season in the USA playing for EHL team, New England Wolves, totalling an impressive 37 points in 48 games.

The left-handed, 5ft 10in star has represented GB men's Under-18s, alongside the recently NHL-drafted Liam Kirk.

Barnes also iced four seasons for Bradford Bulldogs U16 and U18 before moving to Canada to attend the Ontario Hockey Academy, where in 101 games he accumulated 81 points.

Barnes has also signed a two-way contract with NIHL team, Blackburn Hawks – giving him more experience on the ice throughout the 2018/19 season.

Head coach Ryan Finnerty is pleased to have signed Barnes and said: "We are happy to have Adam on board. I am looking forward to working with him this season.

"We have to start developing these young talents into great pros and I’m taking up the challenge.

"Adam will train, work out and will get valuable ice time with the two-way set-up in Blackburn.”

Barnes is eager for his debut with Storm commenting: "I’m really excited to start the season with Storm, as I have watched them play over the years and I have seen them become a great team.

"I look forward to meeting all my new team-mates and hope to be a part of another great season.”
