SWINTON Lions were thumped 60-4 by Featherstone Rovers in a hot-headed Championship encounter at Heywood Road.

There was a 10-minute period of 11 versus 12 late in the game, as a trio of different players were shown cards in as many minutes by official Matt Rossleigh.

Former Swinton coach John Duffy presided over a happy return, as the Yorkshire visitors ran in seven second-half scores after a relatively tight first half.

Shaun Robinson, who departed Swinton for Featherstone along with Duffy, scored the first of a trio of first-half tries, added to by Luke Briscoe and Iain Hardman for Rovers.

The visitors quickly put the game out of reach of Swinton with five early tries in the second half, Aaron Smith, Misi Taulapapa (twice), Anthony Thackeray and another from Briscoe, with Hardman adding 10 conversions to the 10 tries Rovers notched up.

Frustration ignited into an all-in brawl, with Featherstone’s former international Gareth Hock shown a red card.

That did not really quell the tempers of everyone, though, and another brawl ensued with Swinton's Jack Hansen and Andy Bracek sin-binned,

Hardman and Josh Hardcastle scored next for Featherstone, prior to a late consolation try from Mike Butt for the Lions.
