LONG-SERVING captain Callum Jones and Latvian guard Ingus Bankevics are the first confirmed members of the Manchester Giants roster for 2018/19.

Jones was the Coaches and Players’ Player of the Year last season in a campaign that also saw him represent England at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Since arriving ahead of the Giants’ return to the BBL in 2012 from Worcester, Jones has made 182 appearances for the club.

He signed a two-year deal last summer and during the season averaged 14 points and six assists per game.

Adopted Mancunian Bankevics returned to the Giants from Leeds Force in the early stages of the season, having sat out the entire 2016/17 campaign while with the club through injury.

Bankevics first joined the Giants ahead of the 2014/15 season, and has made 81 appearances for the club in total.

He said: “I’m very happy to be playing next year in the Giants uniform. Hopefully next season we can pick up more wins and get in the play-offs.

“We hope to see a lot of people at our games and carry on the great support that we get.”
