HEAD coach Ryan Finnerty is relishing the chance to build on Manchester Storm's success last season when the new campaign kicks off in August.

After an incredible season where Storm secured runners-up spot in the Elite League and won the Patton Conference, the countdown is under way for the 2018/19 season.

Season ticket sales have already beaten last season’s figures and Finnerty is looking forward to the new campaign.

He said: "The last eight games saw us sell out the arena in Altrincham and that is the aim for every game next season.

"We played some really exciting hockey and as well as the established fans, we were able to attract more new ones who liked what they saw and returned week after week.

"We scored a lot of goals – we won at Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield (for the first time since re-forming).

"The side we had was an explosive, exciting group who won the hearts of the Storm fans and the respect of the opposing teams.

"However, like any team we have said goodbye to a few players including captain Jay Rosehill but we have brought in some new ones to freshen things up and I am sure they will all be great additions to the squad and excite the fans.

"The whole squad assembles at the end of July and we have six exhibition games planned for pre-season including one against Tölzer Löwen from Germany."

Meanwhile, Storm have also organised a golf day at Worsley Marriott on September 4 when all the staff and players will be in attendance along with sponsors and supporters.

Finnerty added: “It’s a fabulous venue and gives the whole squad a chance to bond and also play some golf with and against our sponsors and fans.”

There are still some places available for the golf day and details can be obtained by emailing dave@storm-office.com.
