SALE Sports Club's ladies' firsts hockey team beat local rivals Timperley 4-1 last weekend to cap a good week for the club.

Spurred on by the news of their new clubhouse plans being passed, Sale were in positive mood despite having a depleted squad to pick from for the home clash in Division Two South West

They started brightly and Sarah Roberts scored the first goal and soon after Katy Levy followed up an attack to tuck away another.

Timperley clawed a goal back but Sale moved on quickly and captain Jane Fylan linked well with Kelly Mottershead to slip the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 3-1 at half time.

The second half presented much of the same passing hockey from Sale and long balls by Timperley.

A cracking finish by George Hails for Sale was the only goal of the second half to round off the scoring.
