ALTRINCHAM'S impressive home form continued with a 4-1 victory over Ramsbottom United in the FA Trophy second qualifying round.

The J. Davidson Stadium continues to be the place to see goals as Alty raised their tally to 40 in their last 12 league and cup matches at home.

But, for the second game running, they fell behind in only the second minute against a Ramsbottom side from a division below.

It was the familiar figure of Sam Heathcote who opened the scoring for Ramsbottom with a fine shot after a mix-up between Alty keeper Tony Thompson and defender Joel Bembo-Leta presented the former Robins' player with the ball.

But Altrincham levelled 15 minutes later when Jordan Hulme headed home from one of what was to be a series of Altrincham corners, many of which stemmed from the dashing wing play of John Johnston.

And Alty went ahead from another corner when Hulme turned well to drive a rising shot into the net on 34 minutes.

Four minutes after the interval Hulme claimed the first hat-trick by an Altrincham player since early 2014.

This time the ex-Ramsbottom man enjoyed some good fortune as his shot took a heavy deflection off a defender before beating keeper Danny Taberner.

Alty's fourth goal also owed something to good luck as James Poole's speculative shot from outside the box went through the hands of the Ramsbottom keeper, who had earlier made several notable saves.

Alty's win was all the better for being achieved without eight injured players as well as suspended captain Jake Moult.

Alty travel to bottom-placed Sutton Coldfield Town for an Evo-Stik Premier game on Saturday.
