JAMIE Kingdon scored a hat-trick of tries as Trafford MV won 17-13 at Littleborough in the North Lancs/Cumbria Division.

The home side opened strongly with good drives taking play deep into MV territory and a period of pressure won a deserved penalty, converted by Taylor for an early lead.

But the visitors responded and winger Kingdon was first to cross the whitewash with a try down the right which Pat Eccles converted well.

Both teams were doing their best to master the conditions but slippy ball brought many handling errors.

With half time approaching, Littleborough brought themselves right back into it with another Taylor penalty to make it 7-6 at the break.

From an early defensive line-out in the second half Boro failed with a clearance kick which was collected by MV.

Stand-off Stuart Crampton saw Kingdon take the ball at pace to burst through the defence for an excellent score, the conversion went astray from Eccles.

MV were enjoying the best of the game in both attack and defence at this stage and it was playmaker Crampton who made the significant move.

A nicely-judged grubber kick into the left corner was chased by Kingdon who again got the favourable touch to collect his hat-trick try.

The conversion again went wide and the score stood at 17-6.

With pride at stake in front of their home crowd home winger Lloyd crossed for a try with Taylor converting but MV held on for victory to climb two places off the bottom.

Meanwhile, off the field MV are busy building up to their big community social events with a bonfire night special on November 4 and a winter ale festival on November 18 – tickets for both events are available from the club.
