HALE water polo star Izzy Howe helped England's senior women's team to EU Nations Cup glory in the Czech Republic.

The 20-year-old was part of the team that won their section, including beating, amongst others, the host nation Czech Republic, and then triumphed in a tightly-contested final against South Africa in Pilsen.

Howe, of Grove Lane, has now been picked for the World University Games in Chinese Taipei later this month.

This is a huge event with more than 10,000 competitors from 170 different countries across a range of sports.

The British women's water polo squad are currently training hard at their Manchester camp before flying out on August 13.

Howe has played for City of Manchester since the age of 10 and has represented Great Britain juniors in several European and World championships before going to Italy last season to play for Volturno, a water polo club near Naples.

She is currently a sports scholar at Manchester Met University, who have generously supported her all year, assisting both her training and competition programme and participation in the World University Games.
