TIMPERLEY Cricket Club’s first XI concluded a busy week’s cricket on Sunday with a win at Cheadle in the Cheshire Cup.

Timperley elected to bat and scored 293-6 in their 45 overs with Grant Hodnett scoring his fifth century (112) of the season. He was well supported by Kulkarni (39), Canning (59) and White (35 not out).

In reply, Cheadle scored 240 all out with Brenner providing the best figures of 3-39, Kulkarni taking five outfield catches.

On the previous day Timperley had travelled to Neston and gained a draw in a close game.

Batting first they posted 238-9 off 55 overs, Canning top scoring with 66no.

In reply, Neston reached 234-9 with Brenner taking 4-42 off 17 overs.

On Thursday, the first XI beat Nantwich in the T20 cup quarter-final.

Chasing 189-6, they got home via the bat of Ed Galley (eight not out) off the penultimate ball.

The victory was set-up, though, by yet another superlative effort from Hodnett with 114no off 64 balls.

The seconds lost against Neston. Posting 203 (Howarth 112), Neston chased the score down easily inside 36 overs with seven wickets to spare.

The third XI played Macclesfield and failed to defend 159 all out (Porthouse 47).

Macclesfield were in trouble early on but Matharu (93) & Stokes (20no) took the game with a match-winning partnership.

The fourths were winners against Ashley. Ashley were dismissed for 83 (Shukla 5-10) giving ample time for Lumb (37no) and Huzurbazar (38no) to score the runs needed for victory.

On Sunday, the fifth XI travelled to Urmston.

Batting first Timperley scored quickly to reach 287-5dec in 32 overs, with Mat Horan scoring 162.

In reply, Urmston laboured to 198-5 in 48 overs. Horan's 162 was the fourth highest recorded score at any level for Timperley in their 140 years.

The previous midweek, the over-40s lost to Toft by six wickets, trying to defend 135.
