TIMPERLEY Cricket Club’s weekend was badly affected by the weather.

Batting first at Toft in a top-of-the-table clash in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division, the first XI struggled to 129-8 in 40 overs with only Cooper (42) making inroads against some accurate bowling.

Brown helped pick up the pace towards the end with 21 not out, while Stanley was the best Toft bowler with 4-20.

Perhaps fortunately for Timperley, Toft could not reply as rain fell after tea and no further play was possible.

The second XI lost to Toft. Batting first Timperley were 124 all out in 45.4 overs.

Rick Page batted well for his 37 but had little support, despite most batsmen getting a start.

Toft cruised to a seven-wicket win in 33 overs, McCall the pick of the bowlers with 2-43.

The thirds played Chelford and lost by 141 runs.

Chelford opener Zaman scored 122 to help build a total of 258-7 in 45 overs, Nanda the best bowler with 2-38.

In reply, only Porthouse with 60 showed any resistance as Timperley were dismissed for 117.

The fourth XI looked well placed at tea against Warrington having declared on 206-2 in 32 overs with Sanchit Shukla hitting an unbeaten 112.

He was well supported by Hasan with a more orthodox 63 not out before rain prevented Warrington commencing their innings.

On Sunday the fifth XI took on Ashton and won by 60 runs.

Setting up a chase of 191-4 (Sumand Dasgupta 66, Paul Howarth 50no), Ashton were dismissed for 131 with Whyley top scoring with 26no. Nevell, with 3-24, bowled well.

In midweek, the over-40s won at Warrington to stay top of their league.

Batting first, they set a stern target of 140 and dismissed Warrington for 79.
