TIMPERLEY Cricket Club's first XI returned to winning ways in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division last week.

Batting first at Cheadle, Timperley laboured to a below-par 165 all out on a turning wicket with only Grant Hodnett (38) and Abhishek Kulkarni (53) batting with any real authority.

Josh Dooler was the pick of the Cheadle bowling with 4-47.

With the ball Timperley made rapid inroads after tea and soon had Cheadle at 10-3 which they did not recover from as they closed on 125 all out.

Chris Page took 5-30 to mark a welcome return to form, while. Matt Wells top scored with 35 for Cheadle.

The second XI lost to Upton. Chasing 186-9, no batsman saw it through in a response of 164 all out despite several players getting good starts. Khan topped scored with 37.

A short-handed thirds played Stockport Trinity and won by seven wickets.

Chasing 182 Huzurbazar (52 not out) and Porthouse (50no) guided the team home with five overs to spare.

Earlier Rick Axon had bowled well to take 5-50.

At Styal, the fourth XI took the field first, bowling out their hosts for 118 in 39 overs, Cross taking the bowling honours with 2-26 off 12 overs.

Following tea, Satyajit Velasker batted patiently for 39 to form the basis of a six-wicket win.

On Sunday the fifth XI took on Hyde and claimed a draw.

Posting 183-9 (Sumand Dasgupta 43), Hyde crawled to 107-8 before time was called. Hasan, with 2-10 bowled well.

In midweek, the Over-40s won at Ashley to stay top of their league.

Batting first, they set a below-par target of 125 (Nicholson 30no) against a strong fielding display by Ashley.

However with the bat Ashley fell short at 116-7.
