TIMPERLEY Cricket Club's first XI drew with Alderley Edge in Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division on Saturday in a reduced-over rain-affected match.

Batting first Timperley scored 189-9 off 33 overs with the principal contribution being from Grant Hodnett who scored his second century of the season (102), containing 10 fours and four sixes.

The only other score of significance was from Tyrone Lawrence with 25. Hamish Winter-Irving was the best of the Alderley bowling with 5-47.

In reply, Alderley reached 167-6 off their 33 overs with Khalid Sawas playing well for his 53. Jack White was once again in the wickets and took 3-22 off 10 probing overs.

The second XI won against Alderley Edge. Chasing 227-7 off 32 overs (O Wildig 77), Timperley won by four wickets with three balls to spare.

Leading the run chase was in-form Mike Ness who scored a belligerent 94 not out, containing nine fours and six sixes.

The fourths played Europa Exiles and won by seven wickets, largely due to a superb 42no from Raja Padidela who continued his excellent run of form.

The Europa batsmen had no answer to Cross and Shulka who took three wickets apiece.

On Sunday, the fifth XI took on Bollington and won by six wickets.

Best of the batting was provided by Jamie Matthews with an excellent 48no. Simon Spencer earlier bowled well, taking 5-31 as Bollington were restricted to 134 all out.

In midweek, the first XI started their Cup T20 campaign against Lindow and won a high-scoring match by 95 runs.

Openers Danny Cooper and Rudy Brenner smashed a club record 251-run opening partnership in a total of 277-3.

Brenner scored 148, containing 15 sixes and seven fours.

Lindow responded well with 182-6, Howarth taking 1-7.
