TRAFFORD'S Evo-Stik First Division North play-off hopes were dented when they conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 with Kendal Town at Shawe View on Saturday.

The visitors did not seem to present any worthy challenge in the first half and Tom Baker will be questioning his team’s mental ability after failing to close out the game from a comfortable position.

They have now drawn 15 league games despite having one of the best away records in the league.

Trafford started brightly with Craig Lindfield dragging a shot wide after 11 minutes.

However, there was a wake-up call after 15 minutes when a ball over the top caught the Trafford defence square but the lively Matt Dudley flashed over for the Cumbrians.

Two minutes later Aaron Burns put Luke Horrocks through the middle and his poke through to Lindfield resulted in a tame shot at Will Kitchen in the visitors' goal.

Burns was provider once more on 19 minutes and this time Andy Keogh made no mistake, slipping the ball under the advancing keeper.

Trafford started the second half brightly with Keogh playing in Lindfield who blazed over.

On 61 minutes, the ball broke for Anthony Griffiths who found Burns on the edge of the box. He steadied himself and curled a left-foot shot home.

Trafford were now in control and should have seen the game out.

It was one of Kendal’s substitutions who proved to make the difference. Adam Freeland surged down the right in the 86th minute and sent a deep cross to the back post where Dudley headed home.

And it was Freeland who broke Trafford hearts deep into stoppage time when he poked home the winner after Terry Smith failed to hold on to a free kick.
